Alan Ng, the stunt coordinator, is excited about the upcoming one-on-one fight between Jason Statham and Iko Uwais in The Expendables 4 directed by Scott Waugh.
Alan Ng, stunt coordinator for The Expendables 4, has expressed excitement for the upcoming action-packed film. He specifically hypes up the fight scene between Jason Statham and Iko Uwais, directed by Scott Waugh. The movie follows the mercenary team as they embark on a mission to prevent World War III, with Statham reprising his role as Lee Christmas and Uwais playing one of the antagonists. Ng notes that despite the short time frame for filming, both actors brought their A-games and did their own stunts. While Ng would have loved to include more fight scenes for Uwais, it ultimately came down to the script and character development. Fans can look forward to seeing these two action stars face off in The Expendables 4.
The Expendables movie series is renowned for its cast of legendary action movie stars. Among them, Jason Statham and Iko Uwais have proved themselves to be worthy additions. Statham first made a name for himself in British crime dramas such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. He then hit the big time as an action star with The Transporter in 2002, where he played a driver for criminals but also got to show off his impressive fighting skills in some slickly choreographed action scenes. Statham went on to star in two sequels to The Transporter and several other action-packed films including Crank, Wild Card, Parker, Safe, and Killer Elite.
Iko Uwais hails from Indonesia and gained recognition after starring in the critically acclaimed movie The Raid: Redemption in 2011. The film’s intense and brutal fight sequences showed off Uwais’ impressive fighting prowess. He returned for The Raid 2, which received widespread acclaim. Despite being somewhat underutilized outside of Indonesian cinema (as seen in films such as Mile 22 and Snake Eyes), Uwais has the potential to truly shine in The Expendables 4 and his fight against Statham.
